- ELEMENTARY EVENTS: An event having only one outcome of the experiment is called an elementary event. "The sum of the probabilities of all the elementary events of an experiment is 1." If we three elementary event A,B,C in the experiment then => P(A)+P(B)+P(C)-1
- CERTAIN OR SURE EVENT: Any event (X) which is sure (or certain) to occur, has a probability of 1. Such an event is called a sure/certain event. => P(X) = 1
- COMPLEMENTARY EVENT: The event (A'), representing "not A", is called the complement of the event A. We also say that A and A are complementary events. => P(A') + P(A)=1
- IMPOSSIBLE EVENT: An event whose possibility of occuring is none (0) => P(X) = 0.
$$\text{probability of any event} = {0 < P(E) < 1}$$
$$\text{Theoretical or Classical Probability} = P(E) = \frac{\text{No. of outcome favorable to E}}{\text{No. of all possible outcomes}}$$
$$\text{Empirical Probablity} = \frac{\text{no. of trials in which expected results came}}{\text{total no. of trials}}$$
